I MEDIFIT Conference: “An interlinked digital platform for food integrity and traceability of relevant Mediterranean supply chains"

October 16-17th 2023, University of Cordoba (Cordoba, Spain)

MEDIFIT-PRIMA is a consortium of academic institutes and industrial partners funded by the PRIMA-EU scheme. It aims to enable traceability and authenticity control of traditional Mediterranean foods using latest analytical and software technologies.

MEDIFIT is a consortium partnership of 12 entities consisting of seven enterprises (retailers, SMEs, big industry), three academic organizations, and two national authorities.

The overall objective of MEDIFIT is to enable traceability and authenticity control of traditional Mediterranean foods using latest analytical and software technologies.

The focus will be on high added value Mediterranean products, honey and cheese, which hold nutritional value and are important for biodiversity conservation.

MEDIFIT will develop and demonstrate a flexible, modular and standards-based software framework that provides end-users the necessary communication interfaces and web-based software solutions that facilitate the routine use of innovative analytical methods for assessing food traceability and integrity.

MEDIFIT will be addressing current needs on develop and implement innovative solutions, technological tools and/or digital solutions and protocols to achieve traceability and to confirm authenticity of Mediterranean food products.

The MEDIFIT conference is organized within the framework of international project “An interlinked digital platform for food integrity and traceability of relevant Mediterranean supply chains” funded by the joint programme focused on the development and application of solutions for food systems and water resources in the Mediterranean basin (PRIMA).

The main objective of the MEDIFIT CONFERENCE is to disseminate the main results obtained by the MEDIFIT consortium, based on the development of novel not-target methods (NIR, Raman, RMN, etc.) in combination with the application of cutting-edge digital technology to jointly improve Food Integrity of two specific food chains, that is, Mediterranean Honey and Cheese.

The synergistic integration of EPCIS (Electronic Product Code Information Service), along with FSKX (Food Safety Knowledge Exchange) by RAKIP and MicroHibro prediction tool will be highlighted with specific examples and case studies.

The conference will be opened to other existing International and National scientific and technological initiatives, projects and research groups working on food traceability, digital solutions and non-destructive methods aimed to improve food safety and quality and to protect food authenticity in the Mediterranean region and Europe.
